In line with the objective to link the project Combating Illegal Logging with potential international training activities in the framework of international capacity-building efforts, a training session recently took place that promoted synergy with other projects.

Under the multi-annual work programme (MAP) of the Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Network for Accession (ECENA) for the period 2007 to 2010, the Second Train-the-Trainer Programme on Environmental Crime was held on April 27-29, 2009 in Hungary, targeting environmental inspectors, prosecutors and police officers of ECENA countries.

The ECENA training programme included a one-day session on combating illegal logging, providing participants with general background knowledge of the issue and some practical cases/examples, as well as a site visit to see at first hand the damage caused by this particular environmental crime.

More information about the ECENA training can be found on: http://www.rec.org/ecenaconference/eger2009/

The presentations delivered during the training are available here.
